Welcome to The Mill Inn - Restaurant in Coulter, Lanarkshire

About Coulter Mill

A Short History

If low wooden beams, picturesque surroundings and a touch of history is your idea of an ideal setting then we offer you no better place to visit than The Mill Inn, Coulter. With our location in the South Lanarkshire countryside, Coulter Heritage village is excellently located for most urban areas.

Steeped in local history the Mill was not only for grain but also a saw mill and a stone gargoyle is the only remaining part of the original building from the 12th century.

In 2008 the Barrie family, having had over 50 years catering experience in the area, took up the challenge and re-opened The Mill and turned it into a friendly village pub serving quality food, and where possible, locally sourced. Small weddings, funerals, and family functions are tastefully catered for to suit any budget, and when the weather is suitable the beer garden and barbeque are open.

There is also another tangible link to the past, yes, we have our very own ghost. On November 1923, Robert Forrest the miller, died alone in the top room of the Mill when an accident caused his death.
